Looking for Cheap Health Care Insurance?

If you just lost your job and are looking for cheap health care insurance, here are some tips to help you do just that.  Thank goodness for the Internet.  It will make your search much much easier. Start an Internet search by simply typing in “cheap health care insurance.”  You will find a lot of sites that will claim to have the cheapest rates.  Do a bit of research until you find 3 or 4 of the lowest rates.

Now that you have the rates you need to research coverage.  Remember that the low rate is only one part of the equation.  If you have a low rate, but the company you are insured with severely limits what it will cover, the cheap health care insurance is not going to do you any good.

Research the coverage details of the 3 or 4 lower rates you found.  Determine what the deductibles are and if you can handle a higher deductible you will get a cheaper rate.  Find out about coverage for pre-existing conditions, etc…  Also determine what your maximum out-of-pocket costs will be if you need coverage.

Some plans cover regular doctors visit with a small co-pay.  The plans that have these features with no restrictions will be fairly expensive.  You should look into the HMOs, PPOs, and POSs.  These types of coverage will have a lot more restrictions on how you receive benefits but if you are trying to save on premiums you will likely need to use one or them.  You will probably find that the HMO plans are the best “bet for the money” if you are looking for cheap health care insurance.  You will get a primary care physician who will be in charge of your health maintenance.  To go to a specialist, you will need a referral from your primary care physician.  He/she controls all aspects of your care and therefore your coverage.
